Tarot of the III Millenium

[World] [Page of Cups] The Tarot of the Third Millenium by artist Iassen Ghiuselev blends the classical with the modern, the spiritual with the technological in a quite unusual fashion. The major arcana cards are monochromatic with a "classic, cold, and most of all distant beauty." The frame around the image is knotched like a subway ticket. The card name is given in four languages at the bottom; the number is at the top. The numbered cards of the minor arcana are mainly black and white drawings. These cards can be put together to form composite images, but not in a uniform way. Ghiuselev deliberates misaligns the pictures to emphasize the disjointedness of modern life. The minor cards also include a small, colored image of the same card from the Tarot of Bologna. Superimposed on the cards are various designs from technology, such as circuit board schemata and UPC codes. The court cards are the only fully colored cards in the deck. They show bizarre, Bosch-like figures. The knights are not human, but monstrous creatures of different kinds. Web addresses are superimposed on the court cards. These may have been real addresses at one time, but no longer appear to be. This deck is published by Lo Scarabeo of Italy and distributed by Llewellyn in the US.
