Victoria Regina Tarot

[Temperance] [5 of Swords] The Victoria Regina Tarot is a black-and-white collage deck made from late 19th century commercial engravings. Artist Sarah Ovenall presents traditional tarot themes using cultural icons of the Victorian era. The suit symbols are the fountain pen (wands), mason jar (cups), gun (swords) and pocket watch (coins). The court cards are historical figures whose lives illustrate the meaning of each card in some way. Oscar Wilde is the Prince of Wands. William Gladstone is the King of Swords. The queens are Queen Victoria at different moments in her life. This deck comes with the Victoria Regina Tarot Companion by Ovenall and Georg Patterson (269 pages). This book describes the meaning and symbolism of each card with notes on sources for the images. The authors also offer a brief biography of each court card figure. This set also comes with a velvet bag to store the cards.
