Alchemical Tarot
The Alchemical Tarot combines the symbols and wisdom of alchemy with the tarot. Artist Robert Place has drawn inspiration from drawings in Renaissance alchemical texts. Each card is framed in a border of white columns and beams. The major arcana cards represent various alchemical stages. The minor arcana suits stand for the four elements. The court cards are the king, queen, knight and lady. The kings are not people, but animals who are the "kings" of their suit's element. Indeed, animals are featured frequently in the Alchemical Tarot. The salamander represents fire on the ace of wands. This deck only comes as a deck/book set with The Alchemical Tarot by Place and Rosemary Ellen Guiley. This book serves as introduction to alchemy and a reference book for the deck.
