Mlle. Lenormand Cartomancy Deck
This deck by Piatnik, the Austrian card manufacturer, is a version of the deck used my Mlle. Lenormand, the celebrated card reader for Napoleon and Josephine. Lenormand was born in 1772 in Alencon, France. She learned her skills working with fortune-teller Madame Gilbert and later became wealthy and successful reading for high society. She died in Paris in 1843. Each card in this version is assigned to one traditional playing card. Only cards six-ten and the ace, jack, queen and king of the four suits are included. Each card also has its own number and a symbolic scene. The instruction booklet gives the meaning for each card and two reading methods.
