Ancient Tarot of Marseilles

The Ancient Tarot of Marseilles is an authentic reproduction of an original Marseilles-style deck created by cardmaker Nicolas Conver in 1760. As is typical of Marseilles decks, the 2 of pentacles has a scroll bearing the legend "Nas Conver 1760." The Valet of Deniers (page of pentacles) also shows Conver's name and country of origin, France. The cards are numbered with roman numerals except for the pentacles suit and the Fool. Card names are in French. The Death card is unnamed according to tradition. This deck not only reproduces the card images, but also the slight discolorations and worn areas from the original. For example, the upper right corner of the Death card is smudgy, and there is a gap in the line. The cards are colored in blue, yellow, red and green with a light-brown background. This deck is published by Lo Scarabeo of Italy and distributed by Llewellyn in the US.
