Viking Cards

[South: The Giant] [Stone of Thor] The Viking Card deck is a set of 32 cards based on the way of life of the ancient Vikings. Artist Olafur G. Gudlaugsson draws on traditional Icelandic myth and culture to convey this heritage. Each card shows an object or feature of Viking spiritual life. At the top is the card's number and a descriptive word or phrase. At the bottom is a keyword meaning for the item. The deck itself comes with a brief 6-page instruction sheet giving the meaning for each card. The companion book The Viking Cards by Icelander Gudrun G. Bergmann expands on the theme (145 pages). Bergmann describes the positive and negative aspects of each object, its significance to the Vikings and a bit about their way of life. She also offers ways to seek guidance from Odinn, Thor and Freya - gods and goddesses from the Viking pantheon.
